APPLICATION MIGRATION
IPCS assists clients in the application migration by moving an application program from one environment to another. Examples include migration from legacy or client server to web-based applications or an on-premises enterprise server to a cloud provider’s environment or from one cloud environment to another.
Migrating applications can be complicated because there are bound to be differences between the original and target environments. Issues related to application portability, the proprietary nature of application architecture, and other elements such as operating systems, networking architecture, database replication, middleware products, the storage system and the virtual machine (VM) configuration can all differ from those in the environment where the application was developed or deployed.
IPCS’s application migration services help clients assess, plan, and migrate existing applications to new web based environment and deployment on their production servers / cloud environment.
Every application or server migration is unique. Preparing a plan to execute a successful application migration is based upon the type of application requiring migration, the type of source and destination physical or virtual architecture you’re migrating between, and the data volume, specifically the dynamic data volume requiring migration. We conduct a detailed analysis of the application migration and recommend solutions including use of middleware products to bridge any gaps between the technologies.
Specifically in regard to migrating applications and data to the cloud we focus on following strategies: identify what applications need to be moved to cloud-based environments; extent of modification required in the applications to take advantage of the new cloud-based hosts, in other words how much application migration needs to be optimized to meet the cloud computing needs; and focus on managing security and governance.
